Herrera Vineyards - Great Wines & Food

Help us celebrate North Carolina's Wine Month by sharing this blog with your friends. We'll be featuring a vineyard every day this month, and all of them are members of the North Carolina Fine Wines Society. Please like our Page on Facebook and share with your friends.

Herrera Vineyards is located in Dobson, North Carolina and is only a 20 minute drive from Mt. Airy, or a 45 minute drive from downtown Winston-Salem. Herrera Vineyards Tasting Room and Restaurant reopened in May of 2015 after a massive renovation to both the vineyard and the facilities on their grounds that were purchased in 2010. Now open for a over two years, the vineyard is going strong and their restaurant has been sending out wonderful meals that compliment the wines and create an elegant experience at very affordable prices.

Their wines are run from dry to sweet, so there is something in that range for everyone. Herrera grows a variety of varietals like Tannat, Malbec, Chardonnay, and Riesling. In fact, their Riesling comes in both a dry and semi-sweet version. Their 2015 Dry Riesling was judged Best White Vinifera by a panel of 8 Advanced Sommeliers and was included in the 2017 NC Fine Wines ShowCase. Kevin Childers is their winemaker who continues to tend to their wines and has great plans for their future. He's excited about the Tannat and their Solara and how they've aged and performed in both the barrel and the bottle. Do a tasting before dinner, and then you can pick a bottle to go with your meal.

The 75 foot wide veranda provides a great space to hang out and enjoy the sun, sunset, and events that take place at Herrera. Check out their events where you can find free concerts, festivals, and updates on what is happening at the vineyard.

Make sure to go thirsty and hungry. The food here is top notch and very affordable. Their Sunday Brunch special of Eggs Benedict with Crab Cakes were fantastic and paired with the Riesling perfectly. In fact, there was some in the Hollandaise Sauce.

So for a complete wine and food experience, you would do well to visit Herrera Vineyards. They are eager to share their passion for wines and food and service.
